The largest mobile phone maker, Nokia launched their brand new Smartphone called C6. The company announced it in April 2010, and it was launched in July 2010. It is priced at Rs. 13,000/- in Indian market.
Nokia C6 is a slider Smartphone. It is based on GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 which supports the GSM network, HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100 which supports the 3G network and HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 in the American version. It has got a TFT resistive touch screen with 16 M colors and offers as resolution of 360 x 640 pixels in 3.2 inches display. So it is offering a very high display quality. Apart from touch screen, it is also offering QWERTY keypad on screen. There is a provision for turning ON or OFF the proximity sensor. There is an auto-rotate user interface with accelerometer sensor which enables motion gaming.
The connectivity options are based on class 32 GPRS, class 32 EDGE, 3G in HSDPA at 3.5 Mbps and USB 2.0.The Nokia C6 has got really good specification. It has a CPU with a processing speed of 434 MHz processor with the help of ARM 11 processor. The operating system used in the series 60 release 5 of the Symbian v9.4 OS. The camera is an absolute stunner. It has got dual camera in which the primary camera has got 5 mega pixels lens with resolution 2590 x 1922 pixels with LED flash and it also offers various other features like auto focus and geo-tagging. The video capture is possible with VGA at 30 frames per seconds (fps). There is a secondary camera of QVGA which offers video calling. It has an internal memory of 240 Mb and that can be expanded up to 16 GB in which 2 GB micro SD memory card is included with the handset.
The phone includes various features like messaging, browsing, games, GPS etc. The messaging is through SMS, MMS and email. The browsing features is made possible with the help of WAp 2.0/xHTML or HTML browsers. There is a feature of enabling RSS feeds also. Nokia C6 also supports Java 2.0. The phone also got a very good music player. The supporting formats are MP3/WMA/WAV/eAAC+/MP4/H.264/ WMV. The additional features includes the document viewer (to view word, excel, PowerPoint and PDF files), Flashlite (which is integrated with the camera flash), voice command dialing and the predictive text input. The Nokia C6 is offering a very good talk time of 7 hours in 2G and 5 hours in 3G. It offers standby time of 384 hours in both 2G and 3G networks. The phone also offers music playback time of 30 hours.
